Paper made from tree inputs has been the mainstream way of packaging products since packaging was incepted. While chopping down timber with zero regard for the overall impact isn’t a great practice, there are ways to utilize tree paper in a more eco-positive way.
your impact
You are letting consumers know that you support the use of responsibly sourced and renewable fiber, certified by the leading organization in responsible forest management. FSC certification ensures trees are harvested in a manner that encourages future growth, while taking a stance against harmful timber practices.
FSC Certified: The Forest Stewardship Council sets standards for responsible forest management. A voluntary program, FSC uses the power of the marketplace to protect forests for future generations. FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. They track the inputs of timber into three separate FSC certified paper categories, each with their own label to showcase on your packaging; FSC Mix, FSC Recycled, and FSC 100%.
FSC Mix: The label stating FSC® MIX, indicates that the product contains one or more of the following three materials: wood from FSC®-certified woods, Controlled Wood, and recycled materials. Unless there is a set % of recycled content that is stated from the manufacturer in the invoice, the FSC Mix board can contain anywhere from 1%-99% recycled content
FSC Recycled: The label stating FSC® Recycled, indicates the product is made from 100% recycled material inputs. FSC® makes further distinctions between the types of recycled materials used, called post-consumer and pre-consumer. The FSC Recycled label means that 100% of it is reclaimed (post/pre-consumer) and no virgin wood (not FSC or controlled)
